T-Birds fall in Kennewick

Kennewick, WA, February 1, 2008 - Shaun Vey of the Tri-City Americans scored the game- winning goal with 15 seconds left in the third period to give his team a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday night at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

The T-Birds three-game win streak came to an end in the loss and their record is now 25-18-5-2 in the US Division. They face the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum. Taylor Procyshen scored at 4:18 of the first period to give the Americans a 1-0 lead. Colton Yellow Horn and Kruise Reddick had the assists.

Tri-City (37-12-1-2) outshot Seattle 11-10 in the first period.

Seattle tied the game 1-1 1:26 into the second period when Prab Rai scored. Rai beat Tri-City goalie Chet Pickard from the hash marks on the right boards. David Richard had the only assist on the goal which extended his point streak to eight games.

Greg Scott gave the T-Birds a 2-1 lead at 9:17 of the second when he tipped a Sena Acolatse wrist shot from the blue line past Pickard. Acolatse took the shot from the right point with Scott right in front of the Americans net. Bud Holloway had the second assist on the goal.

The Americans outshot the T-Birds 7-5 in the second period and led 18-15 in total shots going into the second intermission.

Tri-City tied the game 2-2 at 11:19 of the third period on an unassisted goal by Brett Plouffe.

The Americans outshot the T-Birds 12-10 in the third period and 30-25 in the game.

Seattle goalie Jacob DeSerres made 27 saves on 30 shots and his record is now 11-9-0-1.

Pickard stopped 22 of 25 shots and improved his record to 32-8-1-2.
