Syracuse Crunch and Thank a Service Member Team up to Honor Military Veterans February 27

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch and Thank a Service Member (TASM) have teamed up to honor wounded warriors and local military veterans when the team hosts the St. John's IceCaps on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.

As part of the night, Peter Allen, Thank a Service Member, Inc. founder and executive director, and Jim Sarosy, Syracuse Crunch chief operating officer, will present veterans with a special medallion to honor their service and serve as a lasting reminder of the appreciation of a grateful community.

The Crunch and TASM will honor veterans from across New York State including soldiers from the US Army's 10th Mountain Division in Watertown, US Army National Guard 27th Brigade in Syracuse and the Syracuse VA Medical Center.

"Each of these veterans is a member of a long line of service men and women who have protected and served our nation in times of peace and war," said Sarosy. "I am honored to have the privilege to meet and shake the hands of these amazing individuals."

Thank a Service Member works to honor the service and support the needs of military veterans. Through the organization's Military Appreciation Campaign, Thank a Service Member holds events throughout the country to honor and pay tribute to the men and women of the U.S Armed forces.

"Our Military Appreciation Campaign focuses on one of the most important things we can do as a community: saying 'thank you' to all who have served," said Allen.

In addition, all fans in attendance will receive a bookmark with information on how to display and honor the U.S. flag.

Thank a Service Member is a non-profit organization based in Central, New York. It was founded in 2006 as a grass roots initiative. Thank a Service Member's mission is to educate the public and to support and show appreciation to the men and women who have served the country. Their programs provide creative solutions to the problems faced by active duty military members, veterans and their families, through their non-political and non-partisan campaigns.
