Syracuse Chiefs Announce Springfest and Meet & Greet
April 3, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Syracuse Mets News Release
The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce the debut of "Springfest", an open-house event at NBT Bank Stadium, scheduled for Saturday, April 11th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Springfest will give fans a chance to take in different activities at the ballpark, including catch on the field and clubhouse tours, five days before the start of the Chiefs' season. Parking and admission to Springfest are free.
"With a late start this year, we're kicking off 2015 at the stadium in style", said Chiefs general manager Jason Smorol. "We're ready for a sunny Springfest day and a great crowd to get on board for Chiefs baseball!"
In addition, this year's Chiefs Meet & Greet will take place after the team's first Family Sunday home game, scheduled for April 19th at 1:05 pm vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. After the game, the Chiefs' players and coaches will be available on the field for autographs and pictures.
During Springfest, fans will have the chance to play catch on the field, weather conditions permitting. The Chiefs are also opening concession stands and the Whistlestop souvenir shop on the concourse, letting fans get an early look at 2015 Chiefs food items and memorabilia. Fans can also go on an exclusive tour of the Syracuse clubhouse.
The Chiefs' first-ever National Anthem Competition will take place during Springfest as well. Contestants looking to sing the national anthem on Opening Day will perform in front of a panel of judges, with fans at Springfest having an opportunity to watch. Judges Ted & Amy from 93Q will also be performing live remotes from the stadium throughout the day.
Eight days after Springfest, fans can return to the NBT Bank Stadium field during the Chiefs Meet & Greet. After meeting Syracuse players and coaches, fans are welcomed to have a postgame catch on the field, weather conditions permitting. Kids can also run the bases, as after every Family Sunday game this year. Please note that during the Meet & Greet, fans should bring their own memorabilia to be signed.
"The Chiefs Meet & Greet is a great way for us to connect our community and our players", said Smorol. "We're excited for the best fans in Triple-A to link up with the best team in Triple-A!"
The ticket office will be open during Springfest and during regular business hours. Fans can purchase tickets to the Chiefs' home opener, Thursday, April 16th at 2:05 p.m. vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre - a $1.00 Thursday - or to any other home game this year. Tickets are also available at 315-474-7833 or via the team's ticket office at syracusechiefs.com.
