Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
Colorado Springs, Colo. (Wednesday, July 15, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC ended their match against Whitecaps FC 2 in their first draw.
Switchbacks FC tied 2-2 with Whitecaps FC 2 in Vancouver, Canada Wednesday night.
"For the second away game this week, we will take the point," said Switchbacks FC Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "Vancouver is a quality team, but I'm not happy about the two goals we gave up, but the guys were determined to not lose the game tonight."
Switchbacks FC came out fighting right from the start, and it was Josh Phillips (#2) who put the team on the board with the first goal in the 10th minute, thanks to a redirected corner kick from Shin Harada (#21).
However, Whitecaps FC 2's Marco Bustos (#32) came back with the equalizer in the 18th minute shooting into a wide-open net.
In the 44th minute, a penalty in the box gave Switchbacks FC's Aaron King (#18) his shot on goal, and he buried the ball in the upper left corner taking the team into halftime up 2-1.
Coming out of the half, Whitecaps FC 2 fought hard and Andre Lewis (#25) hit a redirect right into the goal, tying the match at two a piece.
Switchbacks FC (10-6-1) remain in the top three of the USL Western Conference with 31 points, while Whitecaps FC 2 (6-8-5) have 23 points.
Switchbacks FC will be back at home this Saturday, July 18th, when they take on Seattle Sounders FC 2. They will also be saluting our military.
