Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release

Orange County, California (Wednesday, May 13, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC fell tonight to the OC Blues FC, who are now tied for first in the USL's Western Conference.

The score was Switchbacks FC 1: OC Blues FC 3.

The Switchbacks (3-4-0, 9 points) came out strong and controlled the ball during most of the match. However, a couple of mistakes by some of the younger players led to opportunities for the OC Blues FC (5-2-0, 15 points).

"They kept it alive and created a lot of chances to stay in the game," said Switchbacks Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "But three mistakes by young players unfortunately cost us."

The first goal came in the 39th minute when the OC Blues FC's Christofer Ramirez (#22) got past the defensive line and found the back of the net.

The Switchbacks FC went back on the attack after the half, and Aaron King (#18) deflected the ball into the net off of an assist by JJ Greer (#34) in the 50th minute.

However, a few minutes later, the OC Blues FC got another chance and Brenton Griffiths (#23) cashed in on a corner kick.

Then in the 80th minute, OC Blues FC's Christofer Ramirez (#22) capitalized on another mistake and got their third goal of the match.

"I'm frustrated," said Switchbacks' Team Captain Luke Vercollone. "I think we came out here with the right attitude and gave a good, hard effort, but we gave soft balls away. Hopefully we can rebound from this and take the positives and move onto the next one."

The Switchbacks FC will play their next match on Saturday, May 23rd at Sand Creek Stadium against Arizona United SC.
