Switchbacks FC Defeat Real Monarchs 2-0 on the Road

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
Los Angeles, California - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC defeated the Real Monarchs at Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday night to complete the sweep of the Monarchs for the 2018 season.
Coming off of the loss to the Phoenix Rising FC last weekend that officially eliminated the Switchbacks from playoff contention, the Switchbacks traveled to Herriman, Utah to take on the Real Monarchs. The first half was a battle of the goalkeepers. Switchbacks goalkeeper, Moise Pouaty, made four saves in the first half, with three of them being in spectacular fashion. Monarchs goalkeeper, Jake Leeker, made a massive save of his own to deny Saeed Robinson just before halftime.
After the break, Pouaty picked up where he left off, being forced to make a one-on-one save to deny Chandler Hoffman within 60 seconds of the restart. The Monarchs were the aggressors as they hit the crossbar twice. Against the run of form, AJ Ajeakwa dribbled over 20 yards, beat his defender, and slotted the ball inside the far post to give the Switchbacks the lead on the road in the 63rd minute. One minute into stoppage time, the Switchbacks added an insurance goal when Shane Malcolm cut the ball back for Marty Maybin to score his 4th goal of the season to give the Switchbacks their third road win on the season.
The Switchbacks FC are now on the road for two more consecutive games to close out the 2018 USL regular season. The Switchbacks will visit California to take on Fresno FC at Chukchansi Park on Friday, October 5th at 8:00 PM MT for the penultimate game of the season.
