Sweets Take Game Three Behind Balanced Offensive Attack

Wenatchee, WASH - The Walla Walla Sweets (6-6) took down the Wenatchee Applesox (4-8) in game three of the series 8-4.

Walla Walla jumped out in front early on a two-run inning in the second. Nick Vigo (Cal State Monterey Bay) scored on a wild pitch and Ryan Johnston (UC Irvine) picked up an RBI single as well.

The Sweets tacked on three more in the fifth on another RBI by Vigo and a two-RBI single by Austin Kopacz (Briar Cliff) on his birthday.

Walla Walla then added on a run per inning through the eighth on RBIs by Nick Nyquist (Gonzaga), Griffin Mazur (UC Irvine) and Nyquist again in the eighth.

The Applesox scored four in the eighth, but the game was out of reach and the Sweets won by a final score of 8-4.

Easton Lucas (Pepperdine) got the start for the Sweets and pitched six scoreless innings. He got the win and is now 2-0 on the season.

The Sweets head back home for three with Bellingham over the weekend at Borleske Stadium. First pitch for tomorrow's game is slated for 7:05 P.M.
