Shortstop Andy Atwood extended his hitting streak to six games, scored twice and drove in two more on Thursday and Corvallis topped Kelowna 10-3 to win the series.

A rising sophomore at Oregon State, Atwood singled twice, stole two bases, walked and handled seven defensive chances. He raised his average to .455, with a homer and a team-high six RBIs.

"Multiple at-bats have been a huge part of it," said Atwood, who had just 24 plate appearances this past spring. "Timing, tempo and rhythm is a huge part of hitting and multiple at-bats help with that."

Newcomers Steven Kwan (OSU) and Michael Farris (UC Riverside) combined for five hits, two runs and two RBIs in their first games of the summer. Kwan was 3-for-5 with a run and two steals and Farris went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.

Emilio Alcantar (Lewis-Clark State) added three hits, an RBI and a run and Adley Rutschman (Sherwood HS/OSU in 2016-17) and Greg Saenz (Grand Canyon) each doubled and drove in a run.

The Knights (7-6 all, 6-6 WCL) erupted for a season-high 16 one night after being held to five in a 4-2 loss. They also had 15 hits in winning Tuesday's series opener, 12-0, more signs that the offense- dominant in the early season, is coming around.

"With having some of the Oregon State guys, and guys I have gotten to know, we are going to pull off a good season," Atwood said.

Starter Jacob Wong (Grand Canyon) allowed two runs on four hits over six innings, got 12 outs via groundballs and had five strikeouts. Corvallis's starting pitchers have allowed two or fewer runs in 11 of their 12 opportunities.

Reliever Cameron Bishop (UC Irvine) struck out five in two innings in his 2016 mound debut and Thomas Lalli (Occidental) handled the ninth.

The Knights open a three-game series with Kitsap at 6:40 p.m. Friday. Clark College righty Chris Carns (0-2, 4.35) is their scheduled starter; Kitsap's probable is TBA.

Friday is Pape Material Handling Youth Baseball/Softball Night, presented by Positive Coaching Alliance. All kids wearing their team jersey to the game can get a free GA ticket at the box office, which opens at 6 p.m.

Also, it is Cowbell Night so the first 500 fans through the gates get cowbells, compliments of Linn Benton Tractor.

And, the Knights will donate $1 to Community Outreach, Inc., for every kid who shows up wearing their youth team jersey as part of its One Step Closer to Home program.

Thursday's crowd of 865 raised the yearly attendance to 6,106 for four dates. That is 412 fans ahead of last year's record total of 49,656 through a corresponding number of openings.
