Walla Walla Sweets News Release

Walla Walla, Wa- The Sweets have had a little magic lately at Borleske Stadium. Tonight was no different as they walked-off on the Pippins to tie the series with a 4-3 win in 11 innings. It was the third walk-off in four games at home for Walla Walla.

The game started in a pitcher's duel with the Kyle Molnar for the Sweets working out of jam after jam in the beginning of the ballgame. He ended his day after the fifth, only giving up five hits and one run.

The Sweets on offense didn't pick up their first base runner until the fifth on a walk by Myles Hager and they did not get a hit until the sixth with a single by Mike Benson. They wouldn't find the scoreboard until the eighth inning, but they would take the lead. Down 1-0, the Sweets put two runs on the board on RBIs by Connor Kopach and Kyle Dozier.

The Pippins would tie it in the ninth and they would take the lead in the eleventh on RBI singles by JR Davis. Down one in the bottom of the eleventh, the Sweets would fight back. Parker Coss lead things off with a double and that was followed up by an infield single by Kyle Nixon. Myles Hager then tied it up with an RBI sacrifice bunt and Alex McKenna won it with an RBI single to score Nixon.

Walla Walla and Yakima Valley will match up again tomorrow in the rubber game of the series at 7:05pm. The Sweets will send Easton Lucas (1-1) to the hill, while the Pippins will counter with Darrion Simons (2-3).
