
Sweets Blow Late Lead, Lost Game One

BEND, Ore- The Walla Walla Sweets (17-14) dropped a heart-breaker to the Bend Elks (12-16) 7-6 on Wednesday night.
The Sweets got on the board early and spread out their scoring with one run in the second, third and fourth innings each to take a 3-0 lead. They then scored two more in the sixth to make it 5-0.
The Elks fought back with one in the bottom of the sixth, but the Sweets countered with another run in the top of the eighth inning. They were in control, 6-1.
The Elks put up two in the bottom of the eighth and then scored four in the ninth off of league saves leader Kyle Narahara (Cal State Monterey Bay) and walked it off with an infield RBI single to short stop.
Bobby Ay (Cal Poly) started for the Sweets and threw six innings, only giving up one run. Narahara picked up the loss and fell to 1-3 on the season.
The Sweets will look to tie up the series with Easton Lucas (Pepperdine) on the mound in Thursday's game at 6:35 P.M.
