Greensboro Swarm News Release

GREENSBORO, NC -- The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, fell to the Mexico City Capitanes 122-116 on Wednesday evening in the Novant Health Fieldhouse.

The mid-week matchup between the Swarm and the Capitanes was the first meeting between the two squads this season. Entering the contest, both teams were hungry for victory following losses in their most recent outings.

Greensboro and Mexico City traded the lead five times in the opening half. The Swarm saw an early advantage with a six-point lead at the midway break. James Bouknight, on assignment from the Hornets, led all scorers with 19 points in the first half and was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. Bouknight would go on to lead all Swarm scorers with 23 points in the contest.

While the game trended in Greensboro's favor entering the final period, the Capitanes opened the fourth quarter with a blazing 14-5 run. Mexico City drew even with the Swarm following an Alfonzo McKinnie three-point basket late in the game. The Capitanes would eventually retake the lead for the first time since the opening period and hold it until the game's conclusion.

In addition to Bouknight, four Greensboro players recorded double-digit point performances: Theo Maledon (21 points), Kobi Simmons (20 points), Trevon Scott (16 points) and Xavier Sneed (11 points).

The Capitanes had four players with 20-plus point performances: Justin Minaya (25, new season high), Gary Clark (24), Skylar Mays (24, tied regular season high) and McKinnie (23).

The Swarm and Capitanes meet again on Thursday, March 16 at the Novant Health Fieldhouse at 7 pm.
