SwampDogs Slam RedWolves
June 19, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.--Hunter Dolshun smashed a game-tying grand slam in the seventh inning and Frankie Jezioro roped a game-winning two-run double as the SwampDogs rallied from as much as five runs down to beat the Florence RedWolves 10-8 on Sunday.
The SwampDogs fell behind early on a flurry of infield hits from the RedWolves in the first two innings but stayed within striking distance thanks to seven and two thirds innings of relief from the bullpen. Peter Moore (Lehigh), Kaesen Wilson (North Carolina A&T), and David Marriggi combined to yield just two runs after the second inning.
Dolshun (UMBC) delivered the clutch hit against reliever Corbin Lamb to tie the game at seven in the sixth inning.
In the top of the seventh, the RedWolves quickly struck for their lone run against Wilson over his three innings of work.
The SwampDogs rallied in the bottom of the inning by loading the bases. Jacob Greco (Upper Iowa) legged out an RBI fielder's choice to tie the game before scoring on Jezioro's double.
Wilson earns his first win of the year for the SwampDogs to improve to 1-1. Cable Wright surrendered the three runs in the seventh and is saddled with the loss.
The SwampDogs begin a home and home series with the Holly Springs Salamanders Monday night on the road before coming back to The Swamp on Tuesday.
