SwampBats Crush North Adams 14-2

NORTH ADAMS, MA - The Keene SwampBats (10-11) plated 14 runs on 17 hits en route to a 14-2 victory over the North Adams SteepleCats (8-12) on Monday night at Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams.

Four different SwampBats had multi-hit games: St. John's Rudy Aguilar (2-4, RBI, 2 R), St. Joseph's Charlie Concannon (3-6, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R), Stetson's Jacob Koos (3-4, RBI, 2 R, 2 SB) and Dayton's Brandon Smith (4-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R).

Keene grabbed an early 5-0 lead with a five-run first highlighted by three straight RBI doubles from Concannon, Smith and Joe Breaux (Alabama). Aguilar and Lorenzo Hampton (Florida International) also came through with RBI singles in the inning.

In the top of the second, Koos drew a leadoff walk, stole second and third and scored on Smith's sac fly to stretch the SwampBats' lead to 6-0.

Koos came through with an RBI single as part of a two-run third that made it an 8-0 game in favor of the visitors.

SwampBats starter Colby Dunlop (UConn) gave up two hits while walking two and fanning a season-high seven over five shutout innings. Dunlop earned the win to improve to 2-1.

A six-run fifth extended the lead for Keene to 14-0. Concannon delivered a two-run double in the frame, while Alex Carballo (Broward) came through with a pinch-hit RBI double.

North Adams knocked in their lone runs of the night with a pair in the bottom of the eighth.

RHP Erick Zecha (RPI) fanned two over a pair of scoreless frames and RHP Perez Nichols (Broward) struck out a pair in a scoreless inning of relief for manager Lyndon Coleman's club.

The SwampBats return home to host the Vermont Mountaineers on Tuesday night at Alumni Field in Keene. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. and RHP Evan Sperling (1-2, 4.59) out of the University of Virginia will get the start for the hosts.
