June 19, 2015 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Swamp Bats win their first game of the division rivalry that was crucial to keep the Swamp Bats competitive in the standings. Keene and North Adams would go back and forth in another thriller between these two teams.
Lucas Luopa scored early for the Swamp Bats in the first inning on a groundout RBI from Shane Matheny. The Steeplecats would also score a run in the first inning.
It was the fifth inning that really got things going for North Adams when Parker Perez, Logan Boyer and Dan Shea would score RBI's to keep things going. It would seem as if the Swamp Bats would lose for the tenth time this season but they would rally back to score five runs in the 7th inning.
Luopa and Christman would draw walks to begin the inning and then a balk call and a wild pitch would draw Luopa in. Fitzsimons would come up to bat with Matheny, Foreman, and Crisler on base and would clear the bases on a 3-RBI double.
North Adams' Lamberton would score in the 7th after getting on first to keep the game tied heading into the eighth. Lucas Luopa would get the game-winning earned run on a wild pitch and Zach Willeman would come in to close the game. The Kent State product would pitch 1.2 innings and strikeout five.
The Swamp Bats improve to 2-9 on the season and will go on the road again Saturday to play the Valley Blue Sox.
