Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Swamp Bats dropped another close road contest, this time to the New Bedford Bay Sox, 6-2.
The New Bedford starter John Lieske pitched an absolute gem. He ended up surrendering two runs, only one earned, but carried a no hitter into the seventh inning before Texas Tech's Eric Gutierrez slapped a soft line drive into shallow center field.
The Swamp Bats scored their only two runs in the eighth, off of an error and then from a Matt Ford fielder's choice.
Swamp Bat starter David Sosebee, a junior out of the University of Georgia had a nice start for Keene, allowing just two runs on seven hits and four walks in 6.1 innings. Dustin Cook came on to relieve Sosebee and ran into trouble in the eighth. Two solo home runs from New Bedford put the Bay Sox ahead for good.
Trevor Lacosse came on for Lieske in the eighth, and pitched the rest of the way, capping Keene's 10th loss of the year.
Keene (3-10) will next be in action on Friday as the will travel to play the Holyoke Blue Sox. The Western Division matchup is slated for a 6:35pm first pitch.
