Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Swamp Bats were able to put an end to their six game losing streak on Wednesday with a 7-0 victory over the Danbury Westerners.
All around the Swamp Bats dominated every aspect of the game from beginning to end and looked like a different team in comparison to their recent struggles.
Keene was able to get an early lead over the Westerners on a two run homerun by Ryan Karl, extending his team lead to five homeruns on the summer and giving the Swamp Bats a 2-0 lead.
The lead would be extended in the fifth inning for Keene on a single by Connor Fitzsimons that drove in two runs to give the Swamp Bats a 4-0 lead.
Swamp Bats starting pitcher Kade McClure pitched well over four innings pitched. He allowed no runs on five hits while striking out four batters; he would receive his first decision and win of the season.
Keene scored again in the top of the sixth, as Ryan Karl would come around to score on an RBI single by Dan Cellucci to give the Swamp Bats a 5-0 lead.
The offense wasn't done there as Ryan Karl hit his second homerun of the night, this one being a solo shot in the top of the eighth inning, to extend the Swamp Bats lead to 6-0. Then an RBI single by Adam Chase drove in Matt Burns to make it 7-0.
Karl finished the day three for four with two homeruns, three runs scored, a double and a walk.
Keene pitching would take over the remainder of the game to preserve the lead and the win for the Swamp Bats while allowing no runs on eight hits.
Keene improved to 9-24 on the season with the win. The Swamp Bats are back in action Thursday night as they start a five game home stand against the Valley Blue Sox.
