Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Swamp Bats and Muskrats duke it out in a thriller in a 6-6 postponed tie due to the heavy rain that ended in the top of the 13th Inning. The Swamp Bats and Muskrats seemed to be safe from the rain early in the game, but when the game went into extra innings and into the 12th, rain started to pour down and it was decided that the game would be postponed until a later day.
Overall, the Swamp Bats had 17 hits. Larry Crisler finished the game 4 for 6 with a home run bomb down left field for his first of the season. He also had an RBI single in the top of the 8th inning to tie the game at 6.
Andrew Ryan struggled early, giving up 3 earned runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. He would pitch through 4 innings before the Franklin Pierce Junior Paul Covelle would come in for relief. The relief would not give up a run for the rest of the night.
Keene would be down 6-5 going into the 8th inning before Michael Geannelis would score on an unearned run.
For the Muskrats, Brian Mimms went 3 for 6 including a home run and starting pitcher Jesse Stinnett would pitch 4.1 innings and strikeout five.
The league has not yet set a day for when the game would be finished but the Swamp Bats will be back home to play North Adams.
