New Bedford Bay Sox News Release
North Adams - The New Bedford Bay Sox had their game against the North Adams SteepleCats suspended in the bottom of the sixth inning due to inclement weather. The Bay Sox were leading the SteepleCats 2-1 at Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams.
After giving up an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, New Bedford would tie the game in the fifth inning thanks to a RBI single by Anthony Critelli (Holy Cross).
The following inning New Bedford would take the lead when a defensive error by North Adams second basemen Hunter Lee (High Point) would allow Carlos Ortiz to score from third. Woody Bryson (Villanova) was on the hook to receive the loss for North Adams.
Justin Thomas (Quinnipiac) made his second appearance of the season for New Bedford and it was going well until the rain came. He allowed only 3 hits in his five complete innings of work, the only run he would give up on his night coming back in the first inning.
The Bay Sox will return to Paul Walsh Field tonight, as they look to take on the Newport Gulls for the second time this season. First pitch will be at 6:30 and following the game will be a fireworks display.
