Sutton Earns Zoombang Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Bethlehem, PA: In release made today, the league office of the Professional Indoor Football League announced that Lehigh Valley Steelhawks Defensive Tackle Brandon Sutton was selected as the Week Eleven Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the team's 38-37 Loss to the Richmond Raiders.

Sutton (6'3", Catawba College) made life for the Richmond Raiders Quarterback Phil Konopka a nightmare all game. Sutton recorded four of the teams seven sacks on the night, and totaled 7.5 tackles, 5.5 of which were for loss. It was a return back to his former stomping grounds, as Sutton played the previous two seasons for the Raiders, earning All League honors in both seasons. Sutton now has 6.5 sacks for the Steelhawks on the season.

Additionally the league announced that Columbus FB Kendrick Perry and Nashville K Christian Reed were named PIFL Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Players of the Week respectively for their efforts in Week Five.

Sutton and the Steelhawks head down to Georgia to take on the Fire this Saturday at 7p.m. The team returns home on June 28th for a rematch with the Richmond Raiders at 7 p.m. inside Stabler Arena. This "Fan Appreciation" night game will be brought to the fans by Harmony Press, with the first 1,000 fans receiving a free team photo.
