PIFL Names Week 11 Players of the Week
June 10, 2014 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) News Release
NASHVILLE, TN (June 10, 2014) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) announces that Columbus Lions FB Kendrick Perry, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks DL Brandon Sutton, and Nashville Venom K Christian Reed are the Week 11 Players of the Week.
Already a two-time All PIFL 1st -Teamer (2012-13) as well as the league's all-time rushing leader in yards (711) and touchdowns (26), since joining Columbus (5-4) FB Kendrick Perry is arguably having his best year as pro. Through nine games, Perry has already surpassed his rushing and receiving totals from a season ago and is just three yards shy of breaking the PIFL single-season high for rushing yards, currently at 436 yards, of course set by him back in 2012 with 439. One facet of his game that has taken leapfrogs this season is his receiving game, which paid dividends in the Lions 39-31 victory over Alabama. Perry's two lone receptions went the distance for touchdowns coupled with another score from the ground earned him the Week 11 Offensive Player of the Week. Kendrick has scored multiple TD's in all but one game this year, the one opponent he has not is his team's Week 12 opponent, the Nashville Venom (7-2).
In a week in which sacks were at an all-time high, 19 combined in the four games last weekend, it's the man who came down with the most who earned the Week 11 Zoombang Defensive Player of the Week nod in Lehigh Valley Steelhawks DL Brandon Sutton. In his first meeting against his former team, Sutton didn't disappoint his former home crowd notching four sacks against the Raiders. Unfortunatley it proved to be too little as the Hawks dropped their fifth straight falling out of the National Conference's second seed.
Next week Lehigh (4-5) makes another trip to the Peach State to face off against another reeling squad in the Georgia Fire (3-6), losers of four straight.

Over the past month it has been an embarrassment of riches for the first-place Nashville Venom (7-2). Two key mid-season moves, the signing of QB Charles McCullum along with K Christian Reed the Week 11 Vidswap.com Special Teams Player of the Week, have catapulted the Venom to one of the league's top clubs. In Nashville's 73-39 blowout victory over the weekend, Reed launched a PIFL high 13 points converting 9 of 10 PAT's and four Uno's. In four games since joining the Venom he has managed to accumulate 45 total points, good enough to average 11 points per game leading all kickers in that time period.
