Sussex Skyhawks News Release
In the final game of a three game series against the Grays, the Skyhawks offense broke out and pounded out 16 runs on 17 hits. It was a complete offensive effort, as every spot in the lineup scored at least one run.
The Skyhawks took advantage of the Grays inability to throw strikes early in the game and scored 11 runs over the first three innings of play. Grays starting pitcher Adam Hanson was pulled after allowing 6 runs over one plus innings.
After Hanson left the game the Skyhawks took it to the Grays bullpen by scoring ten more runs, to win the game 16-8. Skyhawks starter Edisbel Benitez recorded 10 strikeouts over 7 innings of work, tying the Skyhawks record of 10 strikeouts by a starting pitcher, which was previously held by Jose Correa.
The Skyhawks welcome the Brockton Rox to town on Monday night, with first pitch at 7:05. Gary Galvez will start for the Brockton Rox against Rene Barreras for the Skyhawks.
