
Surf Topple Pride

Nashua, NH- The Atlantic City Surf beat the Nashua Pride tonight, earning a 6-4 win in front of 1,835 fans at Historic Holman Stadium.
The Atlantic City Surf hit up Pride starter Juan Pena early, with Orlando Miller blasting a three run homerun over the left field wall to give the visitors a 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Two more in the third made the score 5-0 in favor of the Surf.
The Pride returned with a threat in the bottom of the third as Bo Robinson hit a single to center to lead off the inning. Robinson scored after a groundout by Matos, a wild pitch by Surf starter Kyle Goldwater and groundout by Ricardo Cordova advanced him around the bases. The inning ended when Kevin Haverbusch grounded into a fielder's choice to force out Eric Shanks, who had been hit by a pitch.
Goldwater showed signs of control problems in the bottom of the fourth as he walked two and gave up two hits to score two runs. The second run scored when Al Benjamin scored from 2nd on a throwing error by Miller. The Pride threat ended when Cordova flied out to center with two outs and two men on.
Miller sparked the Surf offense with two home runs and four RBI. Reliever Damon Ponce Deleon evened up his record at 2-2 as he received the win.
Pride starter Juan F. Pena (1-4) got the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits in six innings. Conor Brooks picked up his fourth save on the season.
The Pride looks to win the rubber game tomorrow on Watergate Night at Historic Holman Stadium, with the first 1,000 fans receiving Richard Nixon bobble head dolls. The Pride send Nate Teut (3-2, 4.41) to the mound against Alberto Castillo (2-1, 3.13) Game time is 6:35 PM. Great seats are still available.
