Surf to kick off season tomorrow night

Atlantic City, N.J. - The Atlantic City Surf leave the Garden State at midnight tonight for a trip north of the border to open their 2008 season with a four-game series against the Quebec Capitales at Stade Municipal. Brian Rodaway will be on the mound for the Surf in the opener, Thursday night at 7:05, while former major leaguer Eric Cyr toes the slab for Quebec.
It will be the first of 94 games on the slate for Atlantic City in 2008. The Can-Am League, which plays with eight teams this season, welcomes its second Canadian member in the Ottawa Rapidz, who play in 10,000-seat Rapidz Stadium.
New manager Cecil Fielder's roster includes ten players who spent time with Atlantic City last season, including league wins leader Rodaway, stolen bases leader Lucas Taylor, and infielders Joe Burke and Anthony Granato, who finished third and fifth in the circuit, respectively, in batting average.
Atlantic City went 7-3 against Quebec in 2007 en route to a 51-41 overall record.
