CAMDEN, NJ- The Surf had something to prove today as they faced off against the two best pitchers in the league.

The Surf took a 3-0 lead in the first game against Kevin Dougherty as Kim Batiste hit a two-run double, his first hit against a lefty this season.

The surf ran into trouble after Camden scored two runs in the second inning and had the bases loaded in the fifth. Relief pitcher Mark Rutherford threw a wild pitch that scored ex-Surf player Maleke Fowler to tie the game at three-all. another man reached base on a walk to load them up again as Rene Vega came in to pitch. He walked home the go ahead run, and the Riversharks added one more in the sixth inning on a Fowler RBI double. Kevin Dougherty retired 13 of the last 14 men he faced and Kane Davis saved his league leading fifth game. Final score of game one: 5-3 Camden

The second game turned into a classic pitchers dual as Delvis Pacheco pitched his first four innings against the Surf, retiring the first eight men of the game and allowed two singles.

Dave Carroll however, was matching his pace retiring the Riversharks to keep the game at 0-0 after four innings. The Surf scored the first run of the game as Brandon Jackson led off the fifth with a double and then scored on a Vernon Spearman single.

With the score 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth, Dave Carroll retired the first man then forced the second man to hit a slow grounder. Kim Batiste charged in on the grass, made a good pick then fired a bullet to first baseman Pat Burns. It was a close play as the Umpire called the runner out... But wait, Burns dropped the ball and the runner was now safe. the next batter hit a pop fly which should have ended the inning but thier was only two outs. Alex Eckleman singled, Fowler walked to load the bases, then Kevin Jordan hit a line dirve two-run single giving the Riversharks a 2-1 lead.

The Surf came up in the Sixth inning and loaded the bases against Pacheco thanks to Shane Monahan bunting his way on base to open the inning. Brandon Jackson tied the game with a bases loaded roller to shortstop where the play went home. Monahan slide in and was called safe on a close throw that wasn''t on time. The game was tied at 2-2 when Batiste lined a two-run single down the right field line giving the Surf a 4-2 lead, and the eventual win.
