
Surf Sign Pitcher And Infielder, Lose Lytle

Atlantic City, N.J. - The Atlantic City Surf of the Can-Am League have announced the signing of righthanded pitcher and New Jersey native Chris Perez, and infielder Brad Thoma.
Perez played his first professional season in 2007 with Eugene of the Northwest League, the San Diego Padres' Class-A affiliate. There, he went 4-2 with a 6.00 ERA in 26 appearances, third-most in the league. The North Bergen, N.J., native struck out 52 hitters in 51 innings on the season. Perez pitched collegiately at Division I New York Tech University, where he went 10-2 with 4 complete games in 2006, his senior year.
Thoma spent the 2007 season, also his first as a professional, for Charlotte County of the South Coast League, where he played under new Surf manager Cecil Fielder. He hit .231 with eight doubles and two home runs in 53 games. Previously, Thoma played at Thomas More College in Kentucky, where he holds school records in games played (159), runs (158) and hits (204), and is second all-time with 48 doubles and 143 RBI. As a senior in 2006, he hit .428 with 16 doubles and a .690 slugging percentage. The Miamisburg, Ohio, resident is currently an assistant coach at Thomas More.
The club also announced the retirement of outfielder Chaz Lytle. Lytle had been under contract by the Surf for the 2008 season after appearing in two games for the club in 2007. The Orlando, Fla., native will be working at a baseball academy in Jacksonville, Fla.
PRO WRESTLING AT BERNIE ROBBINS STADIUM MAY 10
Atlantic City, N.J. -- The Atlantic City Surf will be hosting an East Coast Professional Wrestling event at Bernie Robbins Stadium on Saturday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m.
The show card will feature "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka against The Masked Superstar; Justin Credible versus Spike Dudley; and a variety of other events, including a 20-man street fight battle royal.
Snuka, who wrestled in the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) from 1982 to 1984 and 1989 to 1992, was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1996. Justin Credible performed in WWF from 1993 to 1997, while The Masked Superstar, also known as Ax, was part of the Demolition tag team in the early 1990's.
Tickets will be available for the event starting Friday, April 11 at 12:00 p.m. at the Surf box office at Bernie Robbins Stadium, or by calling (609) 344-7873. Admission is $20 for ringside seats, $15 for lower box seats and $10 for upper box seats.
