The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Nashua Pride 6-5 before 1925 at the Sandcastle Thursday night. Atlantic City was led by three RBIs from Pete Incaviglia and two from Keith Gordon. But the Surf walked the tightrope in the ninth inning when Nashua scored a run and had the bases loaded with two out. Surf closer Craig Mattson got Patrick Howell to fly out with the bases loaded on 3-2 pitch to ick up his 16th save of the season. Mattson enabled Max Nunez to get his third victory; Nunez worked six innings and only allowed two runs on three hits on the steamy evening.
Nashua has lost 12 ion a row; the Surf are now 9-6 under new manager Mitch Williams and 4-3 in the second half of the season.
The two teams meet again on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. when Jim Crowell faces Julian Heredia. A fireworks show will follow.
