San Diego Surf Dawgs News Release

The San Diego Surf Dawgs launched three homeruns and salvaged the three game series by winning 5-3. Justin Ottman recorded the first victory by a starting pitcher this season for the last place Surf Dawgs.

San Diego took a 1-0 lead after Scott Goodman cranked his third homerun of the season.

Goodman homered in his last at bat during Tuesday night's 11-4 Flyers victory. He made it three consecutive homeruns when he gave the Surf Dawgs the lead for good by hitting a two run shot in the 4th inning.

Seth Pietsch added a 5th inning solo homerun to push the lead to 5-1.

The Flyers rallied for two runs in the 8th inning when Jacob Wallis and Bret Levier drove in runs with two outs.

Garry Templeton II doubled with one out in the 9th to bring the tying run to the plate. But Josh Rummonds recorded his second save of the season by retiring Rich Pohle and striking out Peanut Williams to end the game.

The Flyers first run was driven in by Pohle, who has back-to-back multi-hit games.

Craig Frydendall was roughed up for five runs in five innings. Mike McTamney and Nick Casanova combined for three scoreless innings of relief.

After the retirement of third baseman Nick Saunders, the Flyers added Bub Bergstrom to the roster for today's game.

Fullerton opens their home schedule at Goodwin Field against the Yuma Scorpions on Thursday night.
