Support the Troops Night at Smokies Park Smokies to Honor Men and Women of Military Monday, April 28

Sevierville, Tenn. - A live perfornance by Lee Greenwood and a Blackhawk helicopter demonstration with air support by two Warrior Gunships headline Support the Troops Night at Smokies Park Monday, April 30th. The Tennessee Smokies, along with local sponsors, will honor men and women of the armed forces starting at 6:15 p.m. The program will last approximately one hour and be followed by Southern League baseball action between the Tennessee Smokies and the Orlando Rays at 7:15 p.m. After the game there will be a fireworks display set to patriotic music.

The troop rally will feature the following events:

* Singing performances by Lee Greenwood, Tom Sterbens, Scott Andrews, and Colleen Addair

* Guest speaker: General R. Davis, U.S. Army (ret.)

* UH60 Black Hawk Helicopter demo flown by Army National Guard

* Air Support of Black Hawk by two OH58D Warrior Gunships, flown by the Kiowa Warriors

* Fly over by four T-34 War Birds, led by General Fred Womack, lead pilot of the War Bird flight team representing Tennessee Squadrons Warbirds of America

* Recognition of Veterans, Active Personnel, POW's, KIA's, and MIA's

* Scroll signing: Flags and scrolls will be sent to units serving overseas

* Military Vehicle Display, including Humvee, 105 Howitzer, M 109 Paladin

* U.S. Flags handed out by Smoky Mt. Boys Scouts

The Smokies anticipate a capacity crowd for this event and encourage all to arrive early and carpool to avoid congested traffic. The event will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m.
