Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Travis Denker had four hits, including two doubles and a homer, for the Lookouts but was upstaged by Jacksonville's Kyle Skipworth, who hit for the cycle in a 13-10 slugfest that ended with the Suns on top in Saturday night action at AT&T Field. The loss broke a six-game winning streak for the Lookouts.

Jacksonville came swinging right out of the gates. Jake Smolinski hit an RBI single and Kyle Jensen blasted a three-run shot to give the Suns an early 4-0 lead.

The Suns scored another run in the second, but the Lookouts countered with a run of their own in the bottom portion of the inning on a Travis Denker solo shot over the left field wall.

The runs kept flowing for Jacksonville, as they scored another run in the third and two more in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead. The Lookouts, however, kept plugging away and plated four in the fourth frame. With the bases loaded, Jake Lemmerman hit a slow roller towards third baseman Shawn Bowman, who could not field the ball cleanly, allowing everyone to advance safely. Matt Wallach followed with a sharply hit ball down the right-field line that cleared the bases. Wallach ended up trying to stretch the play into a triple but was tagged out at third on a close play.

With the Lookouts inching their way back into the game, Jacksonville, once again, promptly distanced themselves by plating five runs in the fifth. Kyle Skipworth hit a grand slam just over the fence in right-center field to highlight the big rally.

As one may have predicted based on the observation of prior events, the Lookouts kept plugging away with another rally in the bottom portion of the fifth. Luis Nunez began the rally with a single and made his way home on a two-out double over the head of center fielder Ryan Patterson by Travis Denker. Pedro Baez then hit a towering shot over the left field wall to put the score at 13-8.

The resilient Lookouts formed another rally in the bottom of the seventh. J.T. Wise led off with a single and made his way to third on a subsequent Denker double. A Baez ground out allowed Wise to score and Denker to advance to third. Jake Lemmerman then singled to bring home Denker to cut the Suns' lead down to 13-10.

The Lookouts could not muster another run in the final two frames, and Evan Reed picked up his ninth save of the season for the Suns by pitching a perfect ninth.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Jacksonville Suns will wrap-up their five-game series at 6:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
