10-Run Sixth Powers Biscuits by Generals, 16-3

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Biscuits scored 10 runs in the sixth inning Saturday night and rout the Jackson Generals at Riverwalk Stadium, 16-3. The 16 runs scored against Jackson were the most since Mobile scored 17 on May 11, 2010. The 18 hits allowed were the most since allowing 18 on July 5, 2011. Jackson's (28-21) lead in the North Division has been cut to just one game.

Again Montgomery scored multiple runs in the first inning, scoring three runs on RBI's from Ty Morrison, Tyler Bortnick and Michael Sheridan.

The Generals trimmed the lead to 3-2 in the top of the third on an RBI single from Nick Franklin and sacrifice fly off the bat of Eric Campbell.

Joe Dunigan tied the game at 3-3 with a solo homer to right in the fourth inning. The homer was his team-leading eighth home run and first since April 28.

The Biscuits began their rout in the sixth inning when 14 batters came to the plate, scoring 10 runs on six hits and taking advantage of three walks and a hit batsman. The Biscuits scored three more runs in the seventh inning went on to win 16-3.

Every Montgomery player had a hit and six recorded a multi-hit performance.

For the Generals, Eric Campbell walked in the fifth, extending his on-base streak to 19-straight games. Nick Franklin posted his second 4-hit game and was 4-for-4 with a double, reaching base five times. Francisco Martinez finished 3-for-5 with a double and reached base four times.

Generals starter Brandon Maurer picked up a no decision allowing three runs on 10 hits, striking out six and walking two. Jandy Sena (1-1) suffered the loss for Jackson, giving up six runs, five earned during the sixth inning. Merrill Kelley (2-0) earned the win for Montgomery.

The Generals wrap up their five-game series against the Biscuits on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m. CT. RHP Taijuan Walker (3-1, 2.06) will take the mound for Jackson against LHP Kyle Lobstein (3-2, 2.57) for Montgomery.
