Pearl, Miss. - The Jacksonville Suns came back from a 4-0 deficit to take a 6-5 lead into the eighth inning, but six Mississippi Braves runs in the eighth finished off the Suns and ended the winning streak at 15 games in an 11-7 loss on Friday night at Trustmark Park.

The Montgomery Rebels still have the all-time Southern League record for consecutive victories when they won 16 in July of 1968. Jacksonville's 15 in a row is a new franchise record.

The Suns trailed 4-0 after Mississippi scored two runs on a Barbaro Canizares double in the first inning and two more on a Luis Hernandez single in the second inning off of Jacksonville starter Adam Thomas.

Jacksonville began to climb back into the game beginning in the fourth inning as Tydus Meadows hit a solo homerun on Mississippi starter Francisely Bueno, Meadows' second homerun in as many games, which cut the Braves lead to 4-1. Later in the fourth inning, Brad Cresse scored from second on an error by the Mississippi third baseman to make it a 4-2 deficit.

After Mississippi added another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly, the Jacksonville Suns jumped on piggy-backing reliever Paul Bush in the sixth inning. After a one-out single from Meadows, Brad Cresse hit his second homerun in as many nights, a two-run blast over left field to get Jacksonville within 5-4. Justin Ruggiano then singled and Sergio Garcia walked. When Ruggiano took off for third base, the Mississippi catcher's throw to third went into left field allowing the tying run to score to make it 5-5. Jimmy Rohan then popped a single over the shortstop to score Garcia and give Jacksonville their first lead of the night at 6-5.

Justin Simmons pitched two and two-thirds innings of solid relief allowing only two hits over that span to preserve the lead. Casey Hoorelbeke recorded the final out of the seventh inning and returned for the eighth inning.

After Michael Rosamond led off the inning with a double, Barbaro Canizares walked to set the stage for Ray Serrano to bunt. Hoorelbeke caught the bunt on one hop and threw toward third, seemingly in time to record the out of the lead runner. Unfortunately the throw went wild into left field, allowing Rosamond to score and tie the game at 6-6. After the Suns intentionally walked Onil Joseph to load the bases, Hoorelbeke walked Josh Arteaga to force home a run and give Mississippi the 7-6 advantage. Mike Rozema recorded a controversial sacrifice fly later in the inning with a play at the plate to increase the Braves lead to 8-6. Onil Joseph scored on a wild pitch while two runs scored later on a Luis Hernandez single to increase the Mississippi lead to 11-6.

Jacksonville added a run in the ninth inning on a Craig Brazell sacrifice fly to end the scoring at 11-7.

Paul Bush picked up the victory for Mississippi to improve to 5-5 while Casey Hoorelbeke fell to 0-1 in the loss.

The Suns and Braves finish the five game series Saturday night at 8:05 p.m. RHP Alvis Ojeda will face Braves RHP Matt Wright. Fans can follow the action on AM 930 The Fox or online at jaxsuns.com or milb.com.
