MONTGOMERY, AL- The Montgomery Biscuits beat the BayBears 1-0 Friday at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery. The lone run of the game came off the bat of a former BayBear, when Jeremy Owens struck a ground ball to center field with a runner at second base. John Hudgins pitched six innings, allowed just one run on five hits, but suffered his third loss of the season.
Montgomery?s starter Jim Magrane beat the BayBears for a second time in 2006. After getting the win on May 25th in Mobile, he did so again Friday, pitching seven shutout innings, allowing five hits. Only Luis Cruz and Brett Dowdy had more than one hit for Mobile, who had just five as a team. Dowdy made two diving plays at third base.
The BayBears and Biscuits wrap up a five game series Saturday at 7:05. Jose Oyervidez (2-5) pitches for Mobile against Montgomery?s Jason Cromer (0-1). All BayBears games can be heard on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 18, and on the internet via mobilebaybears.com.
