Jacksonville, Fla. - Jacksonville (59-66, 28-28) scored four runs in the first and sixth innings en route to a 9-3 win over Tennessee (31-24, 66-59) Sunday night at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
The Suns jumped on starter Julio Villalon (4-6) for four runs in the first inning. Jason Repko led off with a triple and scored on Reggie Abercrombie's double. Tarrick Brock was walked and scored on a one out single by Brennan King. Following a walk to Nick Theodorou to load the bases, Victor Rodriguez delivered a two run single to put the Suns up 4-0.
Bucky Jacobsen answered for the Smokies in the fourth inning with his second two-run home run of the series. Kevan Burns followed with a walk, stole second and scored on a single by Shaun Boyd. Suns starter Will McCrotty (3-5) kept the Smokies off the board the rest of the way, allowing just one more hit.
The Suns scored four more in the sixth inning, first on a two-run home run by Brennan King and the final two runs delivered on singles by Tony Soccaras and Repko.
Prior to the game infielder Chris Duncan was promoted from High A Palm Beach. Duncan will take the place of Jesse Roman, who was placed on the disabled list after dislocating his shoulder during the series at Orlando. Duncan was 0-for-1 in a pinch hit appearance Sunday.
The Smokies continue their series at Jacksonville Monday night at 6:05 ET with Nick Stocks (9-7, 4.81) pitching against Greg Miller (1-1, 0.45).
