HAGERSTOWN, M.D. - The Hagerstown Suns (28-16) posted their second consecutive shutout victory over the Lexington Legends (24-24), winning 6-0 Friday evening. The shutout victory was the 8th of season for the Suns, the most of any South Atlantic League team.

The Suns plated the first run of the game in the third inning. Second baseman Tony Renda led off with a standup triple. Third baseman Wes Schill followed up with an RBI groundout to shortstop, giving Hagerstown a 1-0 lead.

The Suns broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring five runs. With runners on second and third Schill grounded out to second, scoring DH Wilmer Difo. After 1B Shawn Pleffner walked, RF Brandon Miller singled to right which brought home Renda making it 3-0 Suns. Designated hitter Estarlin Martinez then drew a walk, and that was followed by single to center by CF Will Piwnica-Worms, bringing home Pleffner and Miller. Shortstop Stephen Perez then hit a single which Martinez scored on, making it 6-0 Hagerstown.

Getting the win for the Suns was RHP Pedro Encarnacion (4-3). Encarnacion pitched five innings, giving up two hits and five walks while striking out five. RHP Aroni Nina (1-3) took the loss for Lexington. Nina went 4.2 innings, giving up five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three.

The Suns will continue their series against the Legends on Saturday, May 25. RHP Dixon Anderson (4-1) will start for Hagerstown, making his tenth start of season. Lexington will trot out RHP Bryan Brickhouse (2-3), who is making his ninth start of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
