
Sundogs Receive Eight Nominations and Take Home Two Awards at CHL SUmmer Conference

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The 2008 Central Hockey League Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs were recognized on Saturday night at the 2008 Central Hockey League Summer Conference Awards Banquet held at the J.W. Marriot Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix. The second-year club received nominations in eight of a possible 15 categories including CHL Franchise of the Year.
Former Arizona Sundogs President Brent Thiessen was awarded the 2007-08 CHL Brad Treliving Executive of the Year award, "presented annually to the Central Hockey League executive who best exemplifies the qualities of excellence and professionalism in a leadership role." The award was renamed the CHL Brad Treliving Executive of the Year award during the awards banquet in honor of former CHL President and current Phoenix Coyotes Assistant General Manager Brad Treliving.
Sundogs Manager of Public Relations Shane Ferraro was named the 2007-08 CHL Communications Executive of the Year. The award is "presented annually to the Central Hockey League public relations executive who best exemplifies the qualities of excellence and professionalism in the public relations field."
Sundogs Director of Ticket Sales and Service Mike Fisher was named a finalist for CHL Ticket Sales Executive of the Year. Other awards the Sundogs were finalists for during the 2007-08 season include CHL Community Relations Franchise of the Year, Merchandising Franchise of the Year, Ticket Sales Franchise of the Year, Corporate Sales Franchise of the Year and CHL Franchise of the Year, awarded "annually to the Central Hockey League franchise which best exemplifies operational excellence under the CHL system."
"We are very pleased to see the Central Hockey League recognize the various franchise and individual accomplishments of our organization during the 2007-08 season," said Sundogs President Steve Cherwonak. "The individual honors received by both Brent Thiessen and Shane Ferraro are most certainly deserved, and to receive finalist consideration in numerous award categories, including Franchise of the Year, says a tremendous amount about the quality and dedication of our staff."
