Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has agreed to terms with forward Chase Watson for the upcoming 2010-11 Central Hockey League season.

Watson is also slated to skate in the American Hockey League's (AHL) Adirondack Phantoms training camp in late-September. Adirondack is the AHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Philadelphia Flyers.

The 27-year-old comes to the Sundogs after stints in the ECHL and IHL in 2009-10. In 32 games with the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs and Reading Royals last season, Watson collected three goals, six assists and 16 penalty minutes (PIM). In 16 games with the IHL's Bloomington PrairieThunder, the 6-foot, 195-pound forward netted eight assists and 11 PIM.

"Chase is a complete player that as a rookie showed the ability to put up points on a consistent basis," said Pietroniro. "We're happy to add a new face to our lineup and we're looking forward to Chase becoming a productive force for our team."

The Media, Pennsylvania, native has spent the majority of his professional career in the ECHL, skating with the Augusta Lynx, Wheeling Nailers, Johnstown and Reading. In 71 games with Augusta during his rookie season in 2007-08, Watson tallied career-highs in goals (14), assists (16), points (30) and PIM (46).

Prior to turning pro, Watson played four years of collegiate hockey at Providence College (NCAA) where he amassed 77 points (19g/58a) and 80 PIM in 134 contests.

He also played four seasons of junior hockey for the United States Hockey League's (USHL) Rochester Mustangs and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, registering 43 goals, 87 assists and 95 PIM in 214 regular season contests, and averaged just over a point-per-game during the postseason recording 20 points (6g/14a) in 19 career playoff appearances.

Watson join forwards Joey Sides and Adam Smyth, defenseman Tyler Butler and goaltender Doug Groenestege as players under contract with Arizona for the 2010-11 season.

The Sundogs will celebrate their fifth season in the Central Hockey League beginning this October at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. Season ticket packages are available for as low as $295. For more information call (928) 759-6600 or visit www.arizonasundogs.com.
