Levesque Returns to Mallards
August 3, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League have today announced that left wing Patrick Levesque, the Mallards' top scorer last season, will return to the Quad Cities for the 2010-11 campaign. Per club policy, no contract terms were released.
Levesque, 26, re-signs after finishing last season tied for fifth in the International Hockey League in goals (30) and tied for ninth in points (67) and also leading the Mallards in both categories while playing in each of the team's 76 games. Last year the Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, native established career highs in goals, assists, points, games played and penalty minutes (140) in what was his seventh pro season.
"Patrick is an excellent power winger who has great hands and can score. He will be even more consistent this season," said Mallards Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone.
Levesque originally joined the Mallards last fall on a tryout agreement after scoring nine goals and registering 24 points in 21 games in 2008-09 while playing in his hometown for the Trois-Rivieres Caron and Guay of the Quebec-based North American Hockey League.
"I am really excited to be going back to the Quad Cities. Quad City fans are the best fans I've ever played for and I matured and improved a lot playing for Frank [Anzalone] last season," said Levesque. "I've never been as excited for the start of a season as I am for this one. I'm excited about being part of the Quad City Mallards again and continuing my development playing for Frank."
The Mallards are the thirteenth team for whom 6' 2", 200-pound Levesque has played as a pro; this marks the first time he will spend more than one season with the same team. Over the course of his career Levesque has now totaled 69 goals and 125 assists for 194 points while also piling up 408 penalty minutes in 280 regular season games.
While the 2010-11 campaign will be the Mallards' first in the Central League, the coming season marks Levesque's return to the CHL. Levesque last played in the league in 2007-08 with the Arizona Sundogs. In total he has spent all or parts of four seasons in the CHL, having also skated for the Corpus Christi Rayz, Amarillo Gorillas and Lubbock Cotton Kings.
Levesque played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior League- for Sherbrooke and Drummondville- before beginning his pro odyssey.
The Mallards will open their first CHL season on home ice on Saturday night, October 16, at 7:05 p.m. against the Odessa Jackalopes. Mallards 2010-11 ticket packages are now available to meet any budget or schedule. For more information on ticket packages for the upcoming season, contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364. Single game seats will go on sale in the fall on a date to be announced.
