Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, today announced that its comeback win against the Rocky Mountain Rage on March 29 has been voted as the CHL Performance of the Week for the final week of the regular season.

The Sundogs trailed Rocky Mountain 5-0 after two periods of play and 6-3 with 1:23 remaining in regulation but used three goals separated by just 65 seconds to tie the game and force overtime. Regular season scoring champion Alex Leavitt eventually found the back of the net in the extra session to cap off the 7-6 come-from-behind victory.

The win is the second-biggest third period comeback to force overtime in CHL history and is the biggest third period comeback to win a game in league history. The Sundogs finished the regular season on a nine-game win streak and won the Southwest Division.

The come-from-behind victory earned 63% of votes (890 fans voted in the final poll of the regular season). Ryan Bennett of Youngstown earned second place in the poll, scoring two third period goals in a 3-2 SteelHounds shootout win over Colorado on March 22.

The final nominees for the CHL Performance of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, April 1 with voting occurring at www.centralhockeyleague.com through Tuesday, April 15.
