KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 14, 2015)- The Kannapolis Intimidators used 11 hits to score eight runs, beating the Lakewood BlueClaws, 8-2, Tuesday night at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Kannapolis (10-9, 45-43) score three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
Yelmison Peralta (3-7) earned the win, matching a career-high 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out one. Peralta has worked 6.0 innings two others times this season, once at Hagerstown on May 28, earning a win and once on June 25 in a no decision against Asheville.
Alexander Simon ended his night 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored, three RBI and a walk while Michael Suiter was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, a RBI and a walk in his first game back with the Intimidators since playing 40 game with Winston-Salem Dash.
In the top of the first, Lakewood took a 1-0 lead when Drew Stankiewicz singled, advanced to second on a fielders choice and scored two-batters later on a single up the middle by Kyle Martin.
In the home half of the first, Kannapolis took a 3-1 lead after Alexander Simon double off the center-field wall with bases loaded, scoring two. Simon later advanced to third on a balk and scored on a Michael Suiter single to center field.
Lakewood cut into the Intimidators lead 3-2 in the top of the second when Jiandido Tromp lined a solo home over the left-field wall.
Suiter extended the Intimidators lead to 4-2 in the fourth. After a leadoff double, Suiter advanced to third and scored on a Michael Danner groundout.
Simon again doubled in the fifth, this time scoring Louie Lechich from first, giving the Intimidators a 5-2 advantage.
BlueClaws relief pitcher Scott Harris came into the game for starter Tyler Viza in the bottom of the sixth, allowing a two more runs in his only inning of relief, making it 7-2.
Viza took the loss (4-5), working 5.0 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out one.
Eddy Alavarez knocked in another run in the eighth, and David Trexler retired the 'Claws in order in the ninth to secure the win.
