Savannah, GA - The Asheville Tourists scored early, in the middle of the game and late in the game on their way to an 8-2 victory over the Savannah Sand Gnats in the opening game of a seven-game homestead.

The Asheville Tourists (12-6/44-44) scored two runs in each of the first two innings off Savannah starter Casey Delgado (3-3) to build a comfortable 4-0 lead. In the first, catcher Dom Nunez began the game's scoring with a two-run homer to right field.

The Gnats (6-12/44-44) picked up a run back in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Michael Katz to pull within three runs. Savannah left runners on base in each one of the first six innings and finished 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Katz had the best night of any Savannah hitter, finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Both teams scored single runs in the sixth inning to keep the Tourists' advantage to three runs at 5-2.

However, Asheville put the game away with three runs in the top of the ninth.
