Strong second period fuels Mudbug win
November 5, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVENâBossier-Shreveport used a three goal outburst in the second period to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead and eventually a 7-4 victory over the Memphis RiverKings at the DeSoto Civic Center on Friday night.
Goals by Alexandre Mathieu, Alan Carr and Don Parsons lifted the RiverKings to a 3-1 lead after one. But four straight by the Mudbugs gave them a lead they would not give up. Brad Mueller cut the lead to 5-4 early in the third, but goals by Bossier-Shreveport's Lyle Steenbergen and Dan Wildfong gave the Mudbugs their final margin of victory. Daniel Boisclair started in the nets and took the loss for the RiverKings. Jeff Blair was the winning netminder although he gave up almost double the number of goals as his 2.28 G-A-A entering the game.
Fans don't have to wait long for the rematch and these two teams play again tomorrow night in Bossier City at 7:05. You can hear the game on Sports56 WHBQ.
