Strong Island Sound News Release

Patchogue, NY, October 2, 2006 - Long Island's Strong Island Sound of the American Basketball Association announces the signing of Boys and Girls High School (Brooklyn) standout Tommie "Gunzz" Eddie to a contract for the 2006-2007 season. Terms of the contract are undisclosed.

At 6 feet 7 inches and 250 pounds, Eddie adds versatility to the Sound roster with his ability to play shooting guard, small forward and power forward. At times, he will even fill in at center. An excellent outside shooter with strong ball-handling skills, Eddie joins the Sound after playing at the University of Mississippi and Coffeyville Community College (Kansas). Eddie spent the 2005-2006 playing overseas.

"As a long-time coach in the Brooklyn area, I'm familiar with Tommie's game and what he brings to the court," states Dytanya Mixson, head coach of the Sound. "While he'll serve as a swingman, I expect that a majority of his time will be spent playing power forward, where I believe he will flourish and become an ABA All-Star. With exceptional range and a hunger for the ball, we're counting on Tommie to be among the league leaders in scoring and rebounding. He gives us a weapon we didn't have last year when we fell just shy of reaching the championship game. With Gary (Williams), Jerome (Holman) and Tommie on the court at the same time, we're going provide our fans with an offensive show they haven't seen in New York basketball since Bernard King was Knick."

Founded in 2004 by co-owners Darren Cioffi and Michele Wuestman, the Strong Island Sound bring high energy and intensity, as well as entertaining basketball to the arena every game night.
