Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Lancaster JetHawks put a halt to Rancho Cucamonga's season-high eight-game winning streak, scoring a run in the ninth, then holding on for a 3-2 win at The Epicenter on Tuesday night.

Lancaster reliever Andrew Robinson recorded two huge outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, striking out Alexis Aguilar with two in scoring position, then getting Leon Landry to ground out to end the game, pulling the JetHawks back to within one game of first and knocking Rancho back into a first-place tie with the Lake Elsinore Storm.

Tied 2-2, Scott McGough (2-3) got touched for what turned out to be the game-winning run in the top of the ninth. McGough allowed a lead-off single to Domingo Santana, then hit Rafael Valenzuela with a pitch to put two on with no outs. After a stolen base put Santana at third, McGough fanned Telvin Nash for the first out. But before McGough made his next pitch, he fired wildly to first base in an attempt to pick off Valenzuela. On the play, Santana scampered home to put the JetHawks in front at 3-2.

The Quakes put themselves in a great position to tie or even win the game in the bottom of the inning against eventual winner Jose Trinidad (6-3). Bobby Coyle opened the inning with a single, then was replaced by pinch-runner Casio Grider. Chris Jacobs then walked on five pitches, putting the winning run on base. Scott Wingo followed with a sac bunt, pushing two into scoring position. The JetHawks then went to the bullpen to get Robinson, who punched out Aguilar for the second out, then got Landry to record his second save of the year.

The JetHawks got two in the fifth against Quakes' starter Zach Lee, as Enrique Hernandez doubled home a run, then scored on Ben Heath's RBI groundout, making it 2-0.

Jonathan Garcia's two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth finally evened the game at 2-2, as he popped his sixth home run of the season against JetHawks' starter Tyson Perez.

With Lake Elsinore's win over High Desert, the Quakes are back into a first-place tie with the Storm, with both clubs sporting identical marks of 35-31, one game ahead of both High Desert and Lancaster, who are both 34-32, respectively.

With just four games to go in the first half, the Quakes will roll with Brandon Martinez (1-1) on Wednesday night in the series-finale vs Lancaster. The JetHawks will send Jorge De Leon (1-5) to the mound in the rubber game, with first pitch slated for 7:05pm.

Wednesday night is another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, as fans are invited to bring their four-legged friends to The Epicenter and enjoy the final home game of the first half.

Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available by calling 909-481-5000 online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!

LANDRY JOINS RETHERFORD ON ALL-STAR SQUAD

Quakes' outfielder Leon Landry has been named to the California League All-Star Team, as he'll join Quakes' third baseman C.J. Retherford next Tuesday night in Winston-Salem, NC, as the Cal League battles the Carolina League in the annual mid-season classic.

Landry, who entered Tuesday's action with a .333 average to go along with three homers, 16 RBIs and a team-leading 14 stolen bases, takes the place of High Desert outfielder Julio Morban, who was placed on the DL on Tuesday.
