Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA - The Angels have promoted outfielder Ryan Jones to the Inland Empire 66ers after a sterling start to his 2012 season with the Low-A Cedar Rapids Kernals. Jones will be plugged into the open outfield spot left after Chris Giovinazzo was released by the Angels Tuesday.
Jones was one of the top hitters for the Cedar Rapids Kernals this year, hitting a team best .295 while also leading the team with five triples. After going undrafted out of Wichita State, Jones was signed by the Angels in 2011 and put together a tremendous season playing mostly for the Rookie level Orem Owlz. Jones was second in the pioneer league with 61 RBI, ninth in batting average (.319), and top five on the circuit in slugging percentage, extra base hits and total bases.
