Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Cristian Santana cracked a walk-off grand slam in the last of the ninth inning, as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes beat the Lake Elsinore Storm by a final of 13-9 on Tuesday night at Loanmart Field.
Santana, who finished the night with four hits and six total RBIs, saved the Quakes from their largest blown lead of the year, as they let a 9-2 lead disappear in the seventh inning. The home run was Santana's 21st of the year, as he now moves into a tie for the league lead in round-trippers. He also has 95 RBIs to lead the circuit, after his six-RBI night.
Quakes' starter Edwin Uceta was brilliant in his first home start, allowing just a pair of solo homers over 5.2 innings. The right-hander left with a 7-2 lead, which was quickly moved to 9-2, when Santana and Hamlet Marte combined for a pair of RBI hits in the sixth inning.
The Storm scored five unearned runs against Michael Boyle in the seventh, then tied the game with a pair of two-out runs against Parker Curry in the eighth.
Connor Strain (3-2) halted the Lake Elsinore momentum in the ninth, when he struck out the side in 1-2-3 fashion, earning the win.
Blake Rogers (3-3) suffered the loss for the Storm.
Rancho's offense finished with 18 total hits, including three each from Omar Estevez, Cody Thomas, and Hamlet Marte, to compliment Santana's team-high four.
The Quakes (72-49, 37-14) have now won four straight and seven straight at LoanMart Field.
Julio Urias (0-0) will make his second start of the home stand on Wednesday night, as he's scheduled to make another rehab start for the Quakes. Lake Elsinore will go with Ronald Bolanos (5-8).
Wednesday will be Bark in the Park at LoanMart Field brought to you by Terra Vista Animal Hospital. $3 pet passes are available for purchase at the Quakes ticket office with proceeds benefitting the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center.
