Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - In a news conference at the team's headquarters, Iowa Barnstormers officials today announced that the newly re-branded Arena Football League has reached agreement with the NFL Network for the 2010 season and the national broadcast schedule includes three home games, including the April 2 season opener.

To accommodate the national television schedule, the Barnstormers will move the team's home opener against the Chicago Rush to Friday, April 2. Kick-off at Wellmark Field in Wells Fargo Arena will be at 7:05 p.m.

Earlier Wednesday, during a national news conference in Chicago, arena league officials announced the league will be re-branded as the Arena Football League (AFL) for the 2010 season and beyond. The owners of the Arena Football One (AF1) league, which includes the Barnstormers ownership group, purchased the rights to the AFL in late 2009.

Team president Jeff Lamberti said the franchise is proud to host the inaugural AFL broadcast on the NFL Network and the selection is a testament to the Barnstormers rabid fan base and tradition. "The NFL Network recognizes the proud history of the Barnstormers franchise and that Iowa is home to the best fans in arena football. We're excited to showcase not only our team, but all our fans, to a nationwide audience," said Lamberti.

In addition to the April 2 opener against Chicago, which is co-owned by NFL legend Mike Ditka, the other Barnstormers home games scheduled for national broadcast are a May 21 match-up against the Arizona Rattlers and a July 16 contest with the Spokane Shock. Those games will be played on Friday evenings. The five remaining home games will be played Saturday nights.

Barnstormers' officials indicated the team expects to make additional announcements regarding local television and radio partnerships in the coming weeks.

Lamberti concluded by noting that despite moving up to the top arena football league in the nation, the Barnstormers are committed to providing an affordable entertainment option for families as season ticket packages start as low as $104 for all eight games. Fans can still reserve their season tickets by calling (515) 633-2255.
