'Stormers Announce 2010 Schedule

DES MOINES - A host of familiar Arena Football League-era rivals will travel to Des Moines this year as the Iowa Barnstormers today announced the Arena Football One (AF1) 2010 regular season schedule as the organization continues to prepare for its return to the top level of arena football in America.
The sixteen-game regular season will see the Barnstormers open Saturday, April 3 at Wellmark Field at Wells Fargo Arena against the Chicago Rush. In addition to the former Arena Football League Rush, other former AFL franchises on the Barnstormers schedule include the Arizona Rattlers, Cleveland Gladiators, Dallas Desperados, and the Orlando Predators.
A Barnstormers' official said all eight home games will be played on Saturdays starting at 7:05 p.m. "We are very excited by a schedule that includes not just storied AFL franchises, but also some of the top rivalries the Barnstormers developed in af2. Additionally, playing on Saturday nights ensures fans across the state have the opportunity to see the top level of arena football in America, right here in Des Moines," said Barnstormers General Manager John Pettit, noting that a significant amount of the Barnstormers' fan base travels from outside the Des Moines Metro area.
Pettit indicated that 2010 season ticket sales are going strong and the team expects another boost now that the schedule is official. Pettit also said despite moving up to the top arena football league in the nation, the Barnstormers are committed to providing an affordable entertainment option for families as season ticket packages start as low as $104 for all eight games.
Team officials also mentioned two key upcoming pre-season events. The first is the 2010 Storm Chasers Dance Team tryouts, which will be Saturday, January 9 at the 7 Flags Event Center in Clive. The second is the 2010 Free Agent Player Tryout Camp, which will be Saturday, February 6 at Vets Auditorium in Des Moines.
