Anaheim Storm News Release

Anaheim, CA (March 22, 2004) - The Anaheim Storm have announced a trade with the Buffalo Bandits which will send Storm forward Roy Colsey to New York in exchange for the rights to forward Ryan Powell and the Bandits' third round draft pick in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft.

"Our vision for next year is to reunite the Powell brothers and use the draft pick to sign a player who will be a strong addition to the team," said Storm General Manager Stephen Sombrotto. "Roy Colsey has been extremely valuable but he has expressed an inability to make the commute next year to Southern California."

Powell, an All-American from Syracuse University, was drafted by the Bandits in the first round (2nd Overall) of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft. He played in 24 games for Buffalo, scoring 30 goals and 31 assists before he suffered a knee injury in 2003 which kept him out for the season. After just one game this season, Powell accepted a job as an assistant coach for Syracuse University's varsity men's lacrosse team. Buffalo retained his rights as a player and placed him on the team's hold out list.

Casey and Ryan Powell are tied as the all-time leading scorers in Syracuse University history (287 points) and play together on the Major Lacrosse League's Rochester Rattlers. Their younger brother, Michael, is playing his fourth year at Syracuse and is attempting to break the record held by the older Powells.

The Anaheim Storm (1-11) face the San Jose Stealth (7-4) on Saturday, March 27th in San Jose. They return home to the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim on Friday, April 2nd to face the Stealth for the third time. April 2nd is Fan Appreciation Day and will feature Killian's Irish Red Friday Specials. Individual tickets start at just $8 and are available now at ticketmaster.com, the Arrowhead Pond Box Office, by-phone at 714-740-2000 and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
