Bandits acquire Roy Colsey as trade deadline approaches
March 22, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
The Buffalo Bandits have acquired forward Roy Colsey from the Anaheim Storm in exchange for forward Ryan Powell and third round selection in the 2004 Entry Draft. Colsey is a nine-year veteran and is closing in on 400 career points.
"All year we've been lacking a big right-handed outside shot," said Silcott. "We've got a bunch of talented offensive righties but bringing Roy in gives us that big shot that should open up the middle for us. We'll be talking to Roy very soon about his role with this team. Hopefully he can come in, find his niche and help us down the stretch in the playoffs."
A nine-year NLL veteran, Colsey scored 11 goals and nine assists for Anaheim in eight games this season. In 101 career games, he has scored 214 goals and 167 assists for 381 points. This is Colsey's second tour of duty with the Bandits. He appeared in six games during the 2002 season scoring 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points.
As the March 23rd trading deadline approaches, teams are making moves to get ready for the final three weeks of the regular season. The Calgary Roughnecks added veteran defenseman Craig Gelsvik to their active roster over the weekend, and waived forward Jordan West-Pratt. The Toronto Rock placed forward Ryan Painter on injured reserve and added forward Eric Pacey to their active roster. The Rochester Knighthawks signed forwards Shawn Wilkins and Dennis Juleff to their practice squad.
