Seattle Storm News Release

SEATTLE, Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 - Seattle Storm head coach and director of player personnel Brian Agler announced today the signing of 6-1 guard/forward La'Tangela Atkinson for the remainder of the 2009 WNBA regular season because of the Storm's active roster dropping below nine players.

"We are happy to have La'Tangela rejoin this team," said Agler. "She should have a direct impact on this roster and provide depth for us."

The Bishopville, S.C. native was added to the 2009 Storm training camp roster on May 7. She played one preseason game for Seattle, scoring five points, grabbing four rebounds, handing out four assists and picking up two steals in 16 minutes vs. Sacramento on May 21. The Storm waived Atkinson on May 31, 2009.

Atkinson, originally selected by the Indiana Fever in the first round (9th overall pick) of the 2006 WNBA Draft, played in five games for the Sacramento Monarchs in 2008, averaging 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Atkinson has played in 66 career WNBA games with averages of 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. The North Carolina graduate was the first player in ACC history to record more than 1,000 career points, 1,000 career rebounds and 350 career assists.

Single-game tickets for the Seattle Storm's first home playoff game of the Western Conference Semifinals at KeyArena are available to purchase today, Wednesday, Sept. 9. Tickets start at just $16 and can be purchased online at stormbasketball.com or by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX.
